I have had NTL since switching from BT nearly 18 months ago. I started off with the 6Meg service which worked well & was fairly stable. BUT.... I have since upgraded to the 20, 18 or whatever Meg service it is supposed to be & it is pure crap now. Downloading anything during peak times is impossible(200kbs), speeds seem to increase during off peak hours (17M highest), but not always. It makes you wonder just how high their contention rates are (17:1 quoted). I use the connection on xbox live but i find myself checking the speed of the connection before i even turn the xbox because ill end up damaging the console due to frustration with lag in the connection. Anyone with similar problems with NTL in the Dublin 16 area?
I'm going down the dreaded customer service route with NTL at the moment, & if they dont get the finger out I will be moving on to a new provider, any suggestions for best provider for online gaming?
