 Results
Your results point to a 1MB line with 512kb upload... and that's my point...
The results depend on 1) the test site you use and 2 ) the time of day (to a lesser extent)...
Try the other test site I posted in my first post and you will get a different result... I am convinced the other site gives a more realistic result...
A second, and more accurate method to determine download speed is to download a file from a fast server...
For example, you can download most Linux distros form Irish mirrors, so find a distro that gives you the options to download from an Irish mirror and download the file... (you can cancel the download after about thirty seconds, once you record the download speed)...
In my case I downloaded Ubunto form an Irish mirror and it downloaded at over 2MB a second... This equates to a 20MB line...
A rule of thumb...
1MB line, gives a actual download speed of 100kbs
2MB line, gives a actual download speed of 200kbs
10MB line, gives actual download speed of 1,000.000 (1 Meg/second)
20 MB line, gives actual download speed of 2,000,000 (2 Meg/second)
100,000 bits per second for each 1MB of bandwidth...
So my 2MB download speed equates to a 20MB bandwidth...
