I don't think Clearwire will say what ports they block. For one, they are NOT allowed to post in public forums but you might see the odd anonymous posting here and there.
As far as I know, they do NOT block specific ports but rather have a tool to dynamically detect P2P ports being used. I think this is the main reason that some games do not work.
For me, I do not use P2P. I have had very little problems in the 6 or 7 months I have had the service. With the exception of around NOvember when they started this P2P shaping/blocking.
I play Steam based games online [HL2CTF]. No problems now after I spent a few weeks ironing out the issues with them.
I also use H.323 [through our company] and SIP [Blueface] VoIP. No real issues at all.
Also VPN, Remote Desktop to Boston, USA on a daily basis. Sweet most of the time.
I also have 3 IP network cameras in my place, uploading motion detecded video 24x7.
I have to say, I have no problems with clearwire at the moment and would recommend them to anyone, Having said that if you want to use the internet illegaly [P2P] then Clearwire is not for you. You cannot expect them to aid you in ripping off media without paying for it. Not that I agree with the rip off prices for mucis and films these days either, but that's a story for another day.
I am based in Naas and have the 2Mb package. I average about 2Mb down and 300Kb up. Sometimes better, sometimes worse. |
