Signed up last Monday or Tuesday (a week ago)... Speeds seem to be running at 1.3mb with 5 lights on that evil little box and I live about 500m from the mast. So that's a screw up to begin with (I signed up for the 2meg package for the first 6 months). Couldn't get anything working from about friday onwards (p2p). Downloading on Thursday night no problem. Consistent 350-500k in Limewire. Couldn't get Bearshare or Bittorrent going though.
Been breaking my back ever since to figure out if they're blocking or not. I think Smart Telecom is a much better option, with 6meg if you don't mind paying €65. Which I think I might. Don't think i'll pay for the last month either when Smart get here.
It's cool if they want to block, but they're wasting people's time not stating it from the start. Probably in the hope that customers will stay with them in spite of it rather than go to the hassle of changing.
Perhaps i'm the first on the Newbridge service to access the Gnutella ports, then they blocked them. Not impressed.
TCP/UDP connections are right as a paying user! What's the point in charging so much?
Service is muck on xbox live too. 40% of the time i'm in the yellow, and 10% in the red. No such trouble with bog standard eircom- who don't monitor the bandwith limit.
If anyone knows more about the whole tcp/udp / gnutella ports thing, email me at
