I keep a Netgear Wireless PC Card (MA401) installed all the time as well as having ethernet. I tend not to use the network card very often for logisitcal reasons - the power cable is tucked behind a desk and it's a pain to use the wireless option on the laptop as it uses up the battery very quickly.

But my primarily connection is ethernet. I've routed this via a Motorola wireless box which allows me to use my IPAQ which is wireless enabled.

Smart have said a couple of times that there's a 'conflict of interests' between the Netgear card and the cable, but I don't really believe them. I've had both for months and it's only recently that the connection has been poor, leading to slow page downloads from the web and poor quality on Skype calls.

And when there's no connection at all (Outlook telling it cannot download and google saying homepage cannot be found) I simply kill the power to the Aolynk box, reboot machine and start over again. And then it's fine.

But it's the upload speed that is the issue - why is it so low when I'm paying for 256k?

Thanks, AvidIrishReader
