Well done Rick,
it's good to see an ISP posting on a forum to answer customers queries and dispel any un-truths. If only others would follow your brave move.
Unfortunately, it also opens you up to every crackpot with an axe to grind. (I'm sharpening up mine now).
I'm strongly considering switching to Calidus, there is a sector not far from me. If only you had a higher download/upload speed than your meagre 1Mbps I would order your 10:1 business plan tomorrow. You guys promised me you would increase your speeds to 2 Mbps, but it hasn't happened yet. (any dates yet???). I'm sure that you would like to reassure me that 1Mps up/down is more than enough for a small business like mine, but I would have to disagree.
Jonathan: A quick probe of the network takes about two minutes, while a complete probe takes about four hours. Make sure you use a good firewall. I use two, one is a Zywall 5 hardware firewall and the other is a software based one. I have to use my XBox 360 on the DMZ, to bypass the firewall, but my ISP still blocks some ports, (accidently they say, but I think their backhaul provider are doing the blocking).
If my own Wireless ISP provider had a 10:1 package I'd jump on that. |
