If you were not paying your bill and were still using the service then I do not see why you do not expect to pay? If the service was so bad you should have cancelled it with them. Unfortunately people in ISP's are not telepathic and have far better things to do than look up every modem on their system every day.

If you owed them €350 you will need to pay that, if you had dis-satisfication with the service you just ring up and cancel it not just let it run and run an then wonder why you have to pay for it. That is entirely your own fault, just because you cancel the standing order, direct debit or whatever it doesn't mean the service is cancelled. You have to cancel it.

I believe they are willing to write off debt if you agreed to pay a percentage of it which they do not have to do if I read it right elsewhere. Ultimately the 900 euro will include the early contract termination fee (This is not unique to clearwire, other ISP's and even Vodafone have the same for their customers) and the charge for the modem if it is not returned to them. If you send them back the modem, they will no doubt wipe 250 off your bill.

Most companies need written confirmation of cancellation nowadays, unforunately in the most part this is due to people having arguments whether they cancelled the service or not, or the date of cancellation. By having copies in writing, this keeps both sides legally covered if either side tries to pull a fast one.

The bottom line is if you used the service since last May you will have to pay for it thats just the way the world works, if you don't want to pay for it yourself you will no doubt need to go to court. Your choice really. and that goes for anything not just internet access.

Who the hell are you to tell me what to pay, if I new you I would smack you. They're not getting a cent of me, and the reason it wasn't cancelled before was that they wanted the chance to fix. Which after this amount of time im saying no thanks take it back. I bet the reason your saying that is because you had to pay to cancel your contract and you pissed off that I dont. Take a hit and jump of a bridge...and dont tell me what I should or should'nt pay. And if you used a service like clearwire you would be agreeing that they should'nt get anything cause its a third world service.
