Default Bailieborough DSL Speed

Anyone out there in Bailieborough?

I have been on to Eircom, as my 2Mb DSL downloads at 60K maximum, usually more like 17 to 34 Kb (YES b, not Bytes). Upload speeds are good, at 216Kb.

They have escalated my problem, as tech support couldn't find any problems with the line or setup. (As a layman like me would suspect- I would guess uploads would be affected also if it was the line)??

Strangely (or maybe not) my next door neighbour who is with ESat/BT has the same problem. Could there be a problem with a whole town?

It seems that the line syncs at 2048, but there are so many lost packets that the throughput is knackered.

Can anyone else in Bailieborough run a speed test and let me know? Paying for something we don't seem to be getting!!

Is there any posssible way to check what the contention ratio on a connection actually is- could "they" have too many people connected for the "pipe" to carry. (Told you I wasn't a techie)

Cheers
