Default o2 in Carlow

has anyone got o2's broadband offering in or around Carlow? do you find it good? i have had a few hiccups with it lately with the E270 modem disconnecting on an Xp pc and then all over last weekend up to tuesday afternoon there was a complete drop in download speed and as of yet still no explanation from o2.

they seem a bit slow in updating their systems as my usage is still 5 days behind after their outage at the weekend and they have still not called me back regarding an outage i reported around the same time last month when i again had no Broadband for two days.

up to the outages my speeds were brilliant averaging 2mbps throughout the day but when it goes its gone for days with no response from o2 except we will get a team to check the mast but this takes 5 days!

well a couple of months on and i am very pleased with o2 but many many others are not just proving that mobile broadband is not the great rural hero it is proposed to be. it all depends on how many phone and modem customers there are in your area and distance from the mast weather etc.

saying that though i had no service from three for 8 months even though the mast is so close i could run a cable from it to my kitchen so it also depends on the company and how serious they are about quality of their service!

hmmmm not so fast foggy lol my o2 broadband has hit the fan in a big way! peak time between 6.30 and 11.30pm i have no service at all and off peak the speeds are only a quarter of what they were last week!! o2 have said they are investigating but it takes them 5 days to check one mast?

there is a probable culprit but o2 say it is rubbish but i think selling their HEAnet offer to 10,000 students for €13/month has screweed the service for the rest of us as the loss of service i experience coincides with student study time!

either that oor the mast on superquin has fallen down or is being blocked maybe by some kind of mobile blocking system for the cinema?

whatever the reason i have contacted o2 and they will take 5days to look into it lol even three could sort this issue out faster all the way from india!!!

if your in Carlow i would avoid o2 broadband as it is oversold and useless from 6pm to midnight!

this speed should be up closer to 3mbps as it was this time last week!
