didnt u know!! clearwire are just plain crap, i was with them for 8months and never got 1 reply or callback, lol, they dont reply or help out, they offer a crap little blackbox in most phone shops (cheap) they follow u around shopping centers begging you to take a wireless modem they are complete lame ass's, avoid, they cant even compete with fixedwireless or upgrade any of there masts(no funds) so best of luck with that isp's best thing to do is write them a little letter and give ur speedtests and say ur cancelling the service like i did, they never charged me. goodluck breaking that forcefield

Default My 50cents worth

I have had clearwire in Dundalk now for about 2 months now and the quality of the signal is very poor, even though I have 4 lights(out of 5) on my modem. The connection has actually deteriorated considerably since I got it. Shortly after getting cw bb I tried using p2p and although it worked initially it suddenly stopped after 4 hours and despite adjusting port setting in apps and router am unable to get it going again. Voip and gaming are simply not options.
Having read various forums, here and elsewhere, it is clear that there are many unsatisfied customers of cw out there.
My contribution is this........if a provider has a service that is unsuitable for certain purposes i.e. voip, p2p,gaming etc, then is it not reasonable for this to be made clear at signup? Not everybody needs these features. Some of us do, however. I would assume that the reason many people choose bb in the first place is to avail of such things, or at very least to avail of high download speeds.
I fully accept that no company can provide unlimited speed, service, coverage, and capacity but I strongly resent the fact that absolutely no mention of their policy of blocking of what I consider reasonable usage expectations of a bb customer when I signed up. The product, as I see it, is fit for basic web surfing and checking of email. It does not deliver anything like the advertised download or upload speeds, at any time of the day or night. At times I have wished I had dialup again.
Any contact with customer service has left me feeling like it is somehow my fault - move modem, reboot router, scan for virus/spyware, stand on one leg and recite the alphabet backwards(in german).
My plan is as follows, I will post my results soon........
I am taking my cw modem and parking my car within 100 yards of their transmitter on the Avenue rd. I will then run a speed test and record the results. Should the results be very different from those advertised, I will be cancelling my contract.
I know wireless is less reliable than dsl or cable, I know that it is prone to fluctuations, I know that high high contention ratios can result in bandwith variations but I absolutely never achieve anything that comes remotely close to the advertised speed that I signed up for- that I am paying €40 pm for.
I feel that I have been lied to, conned, and swindled.

I remember someone said that they even took his money (129 euro) after he cancelled the direct debit as they have special banking standing order.
Close your bank account would be my advice and say adios!

Clearwire is a wireless technology at the end of the day it's always going to be more prone to fluctuations and issues than a fixed line product.

Lets face it if you have broadband from eircom it goes down their cabling, to your property, all of which is owned and controlled by Eircom, with Clearwire it's not that simple, they can't control what happens between you and the base station unless they manage to fence off all the land inbetween which obviously is not going to happen, it effects all wireless providers to a degree.

Hopefully though when WIMAX comes out things will be much improved.

I have cancelled my direct debit with Clearwire, and I'm about to email them to end the contract.
So what this post is saying is that they can take a cancellation fee from my account even though I have cancelled the direct debit?
Does anyone know if this can happen???
