I've been looking around for a new hdd and a pci graphics card and to be honest
I'm not buying anything on the credit card anymore because of the interest attached.
My question for you guys is
Where in Dublin city or south would I be able to walk in and buy the items I'm looking for? I tried compuworld and their a disgrace for their pricing

C'mon guys somebody must know somewhere

If you were trying to match the prices online mate you just wont anywhere in Dublin.
Even pc component wholesalers in Ireland are ripping people off.

The only other places that I know of for computer parts are Maplins in Dublin (Jervis Street)
Unit 1-4 The Smyth's Building, Jervis St, Dublin 1

Tel: 00 353 1878 2388
Fax: 00 353 1878 2399

Opening hours:
Monday to Wednesday: 9am to 6pm
Thursday: 9am to 8pm
Friday and Saturday: 9am to 6pm
Sunday: 12pm to 6pm

and in
Dublin (Blanchard)
Unit 413 Blanchardstown Retail Park, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15

Tel: 00 353 1821 5810
Fax: 00 353 1821 5838

Opening hours:
Monday and Tuesday: 10am to 7pm
Wednesday to Friday: 9am to 9pm.
Saturday: 9am to 6pm.
Sunday: 12pm to 6pm.

Then again, Maplins is stupidly over priced...

Another store I know of is Marx computers . Directions - We welcome visitors to our office. We do recommed that you call ahead or e-mail to check on availability if you require a particular part.Crescent Place is a lane-way off the Malahide road at Kavanagh's pub near the Fairview and Malahide road junctions. It can also be accessed via Charlemont Rd which is left off the Howth Rd near the Fairview and Howth Rd junctions, just before the Maxol garage. We are easy to get to by DART (Clontarf Dart Station) and by bus. Fairview is serviced by the following routes : 127 | 129 | 130 | 20B | 27 | 27B | 27C | 27X | 29A | 29N | 31 | 31A | 31B | 31N | 32 | 32A | 32B | 32X | 42A | 42N |

On the website there's a map on it if the directions make little sense.

To be honest, I would just buy the stuff off the internet because the deals are much better, and the banks are going to get your money no matter what you do

Try P C Peripherals on the Sandyford Ind Estate, near the Beacon Hotel. You will find them at:

PC Peripherals - suppliers of computer hardware and application solutions Dublin Ireland

They build to spec and have good prices for bits and bobs. Their site has directions how to find them with a drop-down menu of prices for most stuff. I have used them for years.

Default Beat the credit card interest trap [well mostly anyway]

Hi Rebel

Don't U know the only way to beat the ripoff credit card interest rates is to pay in full each month!

But if U can't manage that then use a overdraft on your current account, the interest rates on overdrafts are significantly lower.

I've never paid interest on my credit cards even when like most of us I didn't quite have the full amount when the credit card bill came.

Ok, any computer shops in Dublin is "daylight robbery"....As for Credit cards...I don't have one, but I use a thing called 3V cards...

You can get a HDD external or internal for 1/3 of the price that Maplin charges....

try

Komplett.ie

They are one of the best....About three months ago I bought a Western Digital 320GB external for 99 Euro plus 12 Euro to deliver it....It was delivered to my house in 5 days.....

The same model was in "The Laptop Shop" in St. Stephens Green for over 200Euro......

I would never buy things of the Internet until a friend said that this company is legit.....

Best of Luck,

Lofty

Thanks for the replys guys
I tried malpins and peats on parnell st but the guy in malpins
suggested "Unity etail 1 Jervis ST" and he does not carry alot of stock but he ordered me a pci graphics card and his price was €56 compared to Malpins €115 and peats who I thought didn't even care about the customers...

@Lofty
I got the sumodisk from argos 500GB and its a very good external HDD,I might invest in 1 of those 3V cards when I get rid of my current mbna(thieves)card.

@other replys
I do pay my credit card every month but if I ever had the time again I would never get 1,handy but not worth the charges.

As for ebay you really are taking your chances unless its with a seller with alot of transactions and at least a 98% positive feedback,I'm currently waiting on 2gb of ram from a guy I bought my ram off before so I am willing to trust him to a point.
I did buy a internal hdd before off another seller and it was a piece of garbage thats why I now prefer to buy from a shop.
I'm not saying all ebayers are bad but there is alot of shameless people on there(avoid the Chinese sellers like the plague) and also the amount of crap emails you get is a real turnoff.I've bought and sold items on ebay and the majority of people are good but when it comes to anything over €50 I prefer to go into a shop.

Once again thanks for the suggestions and replys

Try Elara Online - they're based in Parkwest. You can order online and then go and pick up your goods when they're ready.
