DDR2 or DDR3 The time has come to retire my aging Dell 8200. I'm looking at building my own rig and think I'll go for a motherboard supporting the new Intel 45nm cpu.
I want to install the max amount of RAM straight away, I've found in the past that waiting usually proves expensive and you lose the pleasure of having the gear until you decide you can no longer do without it.
The only difficulty at this time is that the latest DDR3 RAM is sooo expensive. I can get 8Gigs of DDR2 for around the same as 2Gigs of DDR3.
I know I could upgrade to more DDR3 later but is it really worth the extra cost?
Any comments please
