iMac vs. Dell D420 speed??? iMac vs. Dell D420 speed???

Computers and PCs What kind of hardware do you have? What software? Which operating system?

Default iMac vs. Dell D420 speed???
Hi

I have a 12Mb NTL connection and it is super quick on my iMac (11755kb/sec). However, when I connect my Dell D420 laptop using an ethernet cable, I only get 1500kb/sec. Why is this when it is the same connection??

I'm not sure myself, but something similar came up before. I use Linux and my connection seems fine, but whenever I switch to Windows the upload speeds drop considerably. The post can be read here:
