Your limited to programs and games that run on the 64bit OS. I dont think there are too many games out yet.

Most software will work fine with it. its mainly games that are going to be incompatible with XP64. Game manafactures havent expressed any interest in the OS and I suspect you wont see any games coming for it as game makers will be getting ready to adopt windows Vista and Directx 10 later this year instead

Nop XP64 doesnt work with 99.99% of games even many different types of software that need to communicate deeply with windows wil not work like many anti-virus, Firewall programs.

I'd avoid it at all costs, for gaming its usless. XP home or pro 32bit is better, even win98se is a speedy on a modern PC (though some games may not work with 98)
You could even play games on linux, even windows games with Cedega 5 for linux.
Linux is free and in many ways a superior OS. though not as user friendly.

I have just changed from xp pro to xp64 and have had no problems with any games or apps the look is exactly the same as the 32 bit version but I have to say the benefits are few the only noticeable speed increase for me is in video conversion but depends what you use your pc for but as far as running games and apps no probs at all

Default Windows XP Professional x64

win xp pro x64 supports a good few games, including half - life2. The only downside to x64 os's are, they have severe driver problems. The great thing about x64 os's, is that they are extremely fast at porcessing, copying files from one location to the other, stuff like that. i.e. it would take about 4 or 5 hours to copy 8 gegabytes of from a dvd on a 32 bit installation of windows. with x64, it'll take about 8 minutes. mighty quick.

Hee hee ... that's funny. Pity it's not true. It's a very fast OS but not that fast.

I've been using x64 for almost a year and a half now and I will never EVER go back to x32 on a permanent basis. I'm not even going to bother with Vista when (if) it comes out in January.
I've not had an issue with games on the x64 platform (with the exeption of early Starforce protected games). All my old apps worked on it too. When x64 first arrived on the scene, drivers were hard to come by but that did change very quickly. The only thing I don not have drivers for now is my TV card. As soon as they come out or I buy a TV card with x64 support, I'll never use x32 again.
