Default Upgrading PC AGP Motherboard?

Are there any motherboards produced these days that support AGP or have they all moved to PCI Express?
I am contemplating an upgrade, but I really do not want to have to dump my new graphics card.......

Default Motherboards

I know maplin in town had agp motherboards at one stage.

But if you are considering an upgrade i suggest you go with pci 939 boards and a nice dualcore amd chip

Here's one on Komplett. Its not bad and its a good price too. http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=307785
Its probably the best AGP one on the site.

939 socket for amd64 processor, which I would recommend if you havnt got it already.

Good idea!

I came across several motherboards on eBay last night that support both AGP and PCI Express.
My problem now is working out what I want to do...

I've currently got:

AMD Sempron 2600+ 1.83 Ghz
1.5 GB RAM

So what should I be trying to move to?

Should I stick with an AMD or move to an Intel?

And can anyone recommend a decent case?

My current one isn't bad, but I'm a little tired of the hard drives rattling around in it and would be a lot happier if they were on some kind of shelf or in an enclosure...

Heres a nice case if you really want to go mad, http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=...&view=detailed

But if not I would recommend a coolermaster. One of the ones where both sides
of the case are on hinges so they can be opened with ease. ie. no undoing
screws or taking parts off of the case.

I think you should stick with amd also. maybe upgrade to a 3500 or 4000 amd64
athlon or something like that.

whichever case you go for make sure its screwless, i have a gateway screwless case, and it makes upgrading childs play, not that i'm not handy with a screwdriver. now i'm thinking of changing mobo and processor, might switch to intel altogether, could get a 3.2ghz for 230 and a mobo for around 73 which has agp8x and pci express 16x, i think i would need both ports cos i might change my graphics card in a while and don't want to have to install a new motherboard, tho if i could get a good socket a one it might do. i have always had amd processors, and am thinking i might give intell a go, partly because intell are far more competivly priced than they used to be.

you need to close some background programs or mabye you have a memory leak, 1gb of good memory sould be more than enough for any game i can think of, (the trick to knowing if you have a lack of memory when playing games is to watch your harddrive activity, if its active a lot during game play you haven't enough) i have 768mb of ram and will play half life2 on full settings no prob, the only thing holding me back is my graphics card.

Im upgrading from 1GB DDR to 2GB but battlefield 2 seems to go alright with just
1. That game relies very heavily on the graphics card though. More than most
games I think. Id love to upgrade my graphics card but I just dont have the
dosh at the moment.

This is a bad time to upgrade, with conroe less than 7 weeks away (July 23rd). The $315 E6600 is faster than an FX-62 at everything, and at a fraction of the price!

Even if you don't want to go Intel, the price of current AMD chips will drop considerably so it's worth waiting a little longer.
