Default Installing extra RAM onto a laptop

Hello folks,

i am looking for some advice, I have ordered 2, 256 memory cards for my laptop and intend installing them myself. I have never done anything like this before ..... however i have downloaded the guide as to how to do it for my Compaq Armada 500 laptop.

are there any pitfalls i may encounter ?
what happens when i re- start the laptop for the first time after installation ....?
will i have to type in tecnical jargon or will it be straight forward ?

Any assistance is appriciated ..... the memory is not due till mid next week ...

looking forward to some advice,

Islander ..

Hi Islander

Fitting new RAM is usually straightforward once you follow the manufacturers instructions and so long as the new RAM pieces are the correct modules for your Compaq the computer should recognise them as soon as it is rebooted.

If the extra RAM is not recognised first check the new RAM is securely seated in their sockets. If the reboot fails also check any other connectors that may have been disturbed when fitting the RAM.

Good luck

Howfast
