Default Speakers for the PC

Hi Folks. We're emigrating soon. I have ripped all my CDs to my external HD. I also have an extensive MP3 collection. I've just been using a set of Labtec Desktop speakers so far, but now the PC will be my ONLY music source and I'd like to get 'proper' speakers. I've got a Dell 4600 Dimension and the sound card is a Creative SB Live! Now I don't need to peel the paint off the walls and the house we're moving to is quite small but I'd like to crank it up once in a while. Any suggestions? What wattage should I be looking at - 30, 40 50? Can I use the same speakers for a TV - ( yet to be purchased )?

i splashed out on a set of logitech z-5400 's 310 watt total system power or something like that, they are pritty good but i have to say they are nothing with out a creative x-fi pumping them full of musical goodness. if your gona spend on speakers you need to spend on a sound card, thats my advise anyway. i live in a semi-detached house and the neighbours havn't complained yet, and they go ear splittingly loud. and the bass makes the whole house shake. i'd say go for the logitech z5400's
you can plug up to 5 different things into these, they have optical inputs, spdif inputs and head phone jack inputs. work with everything form a tv to an xbox to a mp3 player. you'll never look back!

Thanks CRAZYCHRIS. I'd say that these are the dog's b. I reckon however that they're way - way more than I need...or perhaps way more than I'd be allowed. I'd never be able to give them the respect they deserve! I reckon though that you're spot on with the brand - Logitech. I'm gonna start off with just a 2.1 system and see if I can ultimately achieve something grander
