Default Help needed with Router

Hi guys,

For the last 2 months Ive had no Xbox Live over my router.

I was using BT but decided to change to Chorus mainly over the 6mb option

I have no complaints it works perfectly and is very fast.

Im currently using the net through the modem but I want to use Xbox Live through my Router which is Netgear btw but I can't seem to install it

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks.

Is the Netgear a cable router? If so, it should be easy enough to get it going. Since the modem is managing your connection already, all you need to do is to connect the modem to the router, via a CAT5e Ethernet Cable, which is usually supplied with the router. From there, you use further Ethernet Cables to connect the devices you wish to avail of the internet to the router.

Now, again, since the cable modem is already managing your connection, chances are that the new router you have will work fine with the default settings. If not, then you'll need to provide us with more information so that we can help you input some custom settings. To begin, consult the supplied manual so that you can gain access to the router's system/firmware via a connected PC. Then you'll know what's being asked of you. After that, post back looking for additional help, if required.
