Exclamation avoid digiweb!! TERMS CHANGED!! NO MORE MONTHLY LIMIT

for all customers that are with digiweb i suggest you take a look at your terms, digiweb have changed there rules on broadband service, they no longer supply a monthly transfer rate, meaning if you pay for a 30gig downlaod limit per month you will not recieve it, they have setup a new thing call a rolling system meaning you never see 30gig, your stats is total 30gig, so if you reach 30gig limit 2 doays before your new month they cut you off, so your into your new month ok- but you will never get refreshed!! they have stopped this!!, so no its setup you have to WAIT for your limit to drop down to a few gig(depends on how much you used) once more for you to use your limit again, so like myself i went over 30gig(3gig) so they cut me off...no i paid my bill and im now 2 weeks into new month! i have been capped i will not get my 30gig... i was told i have to wait for my limit to drop down to 27gig then i can use my allowance again, BUT if i reach 30 gig again i get capped, meaning you never get 30gig!! DO NOT GO TO DIGIWEB THEY TELL YOU THAT YOU HAVE 30GIG A MONTH, THEY DONT, I LEARNT THE HARD WAY AND I HAVE ORDERED A NEW ISP- i will not get my account refreshed for a whole onth even dough i have paid my new bill, scammers!!!

30gig is not enough when your downloading alot and using your bandwith- its fine for people that have less atm and need more, but when you have the 30gig it goes very fast.... also like i stated digiweb dont give u 30gig anymore, and i dont know when its set as now, it just goes down and up every few days here- http://mytraffic.digiweb.ie

I'm with Digiweb, and have had no such problems. I'm not sure that I follow you - you do know what a 30 day "rolling" 30Gb means, right?

From what I can see, Digiweb's quota system for the downlink does not seem too bad, as it is still possible to make use of the quota. However, I think the main reason they do this is to avoid network surges at the start and end of each month, such as when one tries using up the remaining quota on the last days of the month or where one has been building a list of files to download once the new month starts. On the other hand, this issue use to only really be noticed on satellite based Internet, where the performance was quite good in the middle of the month, but terrible at the beginning and end of the month.

On the other hand, they have quite a nasty surprise for those who do exceed their quota going by their FAQ. For example, they mention that if one exceeds the 10GB limit by 2GB before the speed restriction is put in place, the restriction is only removed once they fall below the quota by what they exceeded by, i.e. below 8GB (10GB - 2GB). This effectively means that if one ended up going 10GB over their 40GB limit before their speed was cut, they would need to wait until they fall below 30GB over the 30-day rolling period before the restriction is removed.

I must find out what their upload quota is, as my uplink has been cut to about 64k a few days ago (use to run at ~310K), despite being on their Xtra (3Mb/384K) package According to the My Traffic report, I've used 3.89GB on the uplink over the past 30 days and 8.93GB on the downlink, so I definitely haven't exceeded my 40GB allowance, even if adding both. Going by the last couple of IrishISPTest's, I get ~2.3Mbps to 2.4Mbps down and just ~62kbps up. I am fairly heavy uploader due to making regular VPN and FTP connections to transfer files, so would be rather disappointed to find out that they only allow somewhere between 3GB and 4GB upload allowance on their DSL Xtra package.

Edit: My mistake about the uplink restriction: My D-link gaming router has a traffic shapping feature, which got enabled after a recent firmware update. Apparently, this feature is designed to limit the uplink to prevent any upload from hogging the bandwidth and minimising latency when setting up new connections. While this may be useful to allow fast browsing of the Internet and games playing while FTPing up files, having uploads slowed down to around 8KB/s is not useful if there is a lot of content being uploaded. However, while Once this feature was disabled, my uplink went up to ~260Kbps after a handful of speed tests on this site.

Plain and simple, Digiweb are crap and thiefs

I was with digiweb about a year and a half ago and had a similar problem.

I read the terms and condition but to be honest I wasn't 100% sure what the "rolling" period was.

Anyway, here's how it works........If I use 2gb on the first day of the month, then 4gb on the second and then 24gb on the third day of the month, thats my 30gb allowance used up so for another 28 days the limit my bandwidth to a little over dial up connection.

Here's the good part....you don't get your full 30gb allowance back at the end of the month. This is how it works.....I used 2gb on the first of last month right? So that means I get 2gb back on the first day of the new month then i get 4gb back on the second day and then 24gb on the third day.

You do the math!!! That is only an example, so if you were to use 5gb on some days,10gb on other days basically your screwed if you want to download consistantly.

That part 1 of my story, here's part 2:

So I cancelled crappyweb and they said ok and cancelled my account.

I came home one day to find a slip of paper in my letterbox saying digiweb were here earlier and took the antenna from my roof. Now that pissed me off I have a skylight in my house and some jackass from digiweb was on my roof with a clear view into my house. And he go onto my house without my permission. I rang and complained and they agreed the guy shouldn't have done this.

Part 3 of story:

I paid this amatuer service a month in advance and rang them and they said they would post me out a cheque. About 2 months pass and no sign, I ring back up and I'm being passed from department to department talking to idiots that havn't a clue whats going on and keep telling me to email them.

I'm now with magnet entertainment and am as happy as a pig in Sh*t :-)

I'm on a 4meg dl connection and 1meg ul and 100gb monthly allowance and yes when the month is up.....then your 100gb allowance is started fresh.

my opinion as you see is digiweb are crap and crooks that still owe me money but I'm rid of them now and thats good enough for me.

I read your post and then gave my views on digiweb so why would I want to read your post again ? Unless YOUR a bit slow, try reading a little slower in future and also try taking in the whole post

Just in case anyone is still unsure what is meant by Digiweb's rolling 30 day period, the following usage graph should hopefully make it clear how Digiweb measures usage:

As pointed out in the graph, Digiweb measures one's usage over the past 30 days. Other ISP's measures one's usage since the beginning of the month.

Send them a witnessed letter registered mail indicating that you are going to press charges for trespass, invasion of of privacy and since they had no right to be on your roof, not to mind removing anything from your property theft also. Part of the letter should be in bill format for the money owed plus interest. The pen is mightier than the sword ! Worth a try??

I think I've to weigh inn for Digiweb on this one. I've been with them for nearly two years now and find the service excellent. Very attentive on the phone, very good download, and pings.

The "rolling" 30 day quota system works fine for me as I check it regularly and keep it 80-90% full, getting nearly the most out of it.

ISP bashing in most cases is deserved - but I think that Digiweb are one of the few good ISP's. (Of course if this changes I'll be back to change this statement )

Listen guys. If you are cancelling because of a 30 day rolling period then you are a fool. A 30 day rolling period is actually BETTER for you than measuring by a calender month.

Let me explain - if you hit your 30G limit with another ISP you have to wait until the start of the next month before you can download again, this could be weeks.
If you hit your 30G limit with Digiweb the odds are you will be back below you limit again the following day.

Also i have digiweb and they send you a mail when you hit your 30G to let you know your near your limit and then they let you go to 36G before penalizing you.

AND THEN!! They dont cut you off they just slow down your speed to something like 128k.

If you think that this is a bad service then the best of luck with your next ISP!!!!!

I think slam05 is a digiweb employee??? that's not true for 3 weeks i was on about 128k down. And they also include your upload traffic in your total traffic! That's insane. So beware if you are thinking of signing up with Digiweb!!!! And of course I didn't get an email to say i was capped!!! With bt i reached 40g and didn't get capped loads of times no extra charges either! Just hope it's the same this time around!

Hi, been with Digiweb Metro for nearly two years and their download policy was ALWAYS a rolling limit. It was never a monthly reset to zero limit.

I suspect you signed on the dotted line without reading the t & c's and then got a shock when they trottled your connection.

I'm very happy with their service. excellent isptest results on 1meg and now 6meg.
