hi all i am currently on a 1mb connection with digiweb but as of late my connection has got very slow my speed is up and down but it isnt slow i think it is more of a contention ratio,my speed is 849 up and a crap 12k up, i was wondering of other users in the monaghan town area have noticed a drop in service
Are you on wireless or plug into a telephone line with Digiweb? The reason I ask is I am on a 1 mb connection in Monaghan Town with UTV (via telephone line). I am experiencing the exact same problem as yourself. My download speed is ok but upload is like yours 12 kbps or worse. Been having intermittent problems for a month but over past 10 days its been the same all the time.
Result of this is sluggish internet and dropped connections. Unable to send email with large attachments.
Fault reported to Eircom via UTV last week but no resolution as of yet.
Contention is not the issue as I am getting this any time of the day and its highly unlikely to cause such a disastrous drop in upload like ours.
Would be interested to know if your connection is via telephone line as this might indicate some type of exchange problem in this area.
hi thanks for reply my connection is dsl over phone line, and i have the very same problem attaching files in emails it takes forever and then times out as you sais over the past 2 week or so it has been very bad it must be an eircom exchange fault im goin to contact digiweb and log a fault also,
Ok. Hopefully between UTV and Digiweb something will happen with Eircom. My problem is exactly as you describe with emails timing out etc...... Pages hanging on the net before loading. Its worse than dial up !! And the strange thing is its poor upload thats causing the problem as my download speeds remain fine.
Im surprised Eircom is not flooded with complaints about this in the town. The engineer clearly knew nothing about it when he called with me. They replaced a section of line outside the house which took them 2 hours and then disappeared without coming back to me. Result - No change whatsoever in the broadband connection.
Let me know how you get on with your complaint. UTV have just escalated the issue for me.
got a phone call from digiweb today they reckon it is a eircom fault, rang eircom they refused to fix fault because my broadband provider is digweb so needless to say i tore them a new ********, so i then complained about my phone (i have no problem with) so they claim they will now fix it, i think the manhole outside is full of water im in the killyconnigan area , let me know if hear anymore
Well guess what - Im in the Killiconnigan area too!!!! It really is a small world! So now we can say there is a definite fault in this area as thats two of us experiencing the exact same problem. We are both on the same exchange. DigiWeb should have reported the fault to Eircom for you as this is the procedure when you are on a different provider like DigiWeb or UTV. Eircom will refuse to look at it unless the fault is logged by DigiWeb. DigiWeb should know that.
I am just off the phone from UTV support (again) and they have just relogged the fault to Eircom. UTV told me that Eircom engineers have finished replacing a faulty line today at 12.30am but I explained that the broadband is no better.
Apparently in the first place when a broadband fault is logged, the Eircom broadband technicians will reject it if there is a line problem and put it back to the telephone engineers as the line problem has to be fixed first. Now the line has supposedly been fixed today and UTV have relogged the broadband fault which obviously still exists. This will now go back to the broadband engineers at Eircom once again. Its a carry on but thats the way they do it apparently.
I mentioned to the UTV tech about your post regarding problems with DigiWeb which are identical to mine. He advised if you could to push DigiWeb to log the fault with Eircom this will add more pressure on Eircom to fix the broadband problem in this area. The more complaints the better. Hope this helps. Let me know how you get on. Hopefully we will have a result soon.
small world indeed i logged the fault yesterday with digiweb and recalled today they told me as you did ,eircom rejected fault as there was a line fault so logged fault with eircom, had eircom up at 5 they checked box outside on road full of water but reckons fault is in exchange, so he rang me back there bout half an hour ago and my speed has increased a bit but upload is 3kbps!!! but it seems to be a bit better not timing out as often, the engineer told me he will reset my line first thing in the morning and contact me, so ill keep you informed but i think its a problem with the line running to killyconnigan or that section of the exchange
hi no improvement today its the very same 850down 7up, must be a major prob with line in area goin 2 ring digiweb 2morrow closed now and complain and say its not acceptable try and get them to push eircom because i can surf but cant upload..
Wondered if you have had any update yet.Been on to UTV support again. They told me that the line was passed clear for DSL today by Eircom following my last logged fault. This is getting ridiculous because today I am getting 3kbps upload and even worse my download has today halved itself to 400 kbps. And Eircom have just passed the line as fault free!!!!
No technician has called. Nobody from Eircom has asked me about the fault or has it improved. Just passed it as fault free and here we go round the whole rigmarole again. What a joke!
I would be very interested to here if you are still having problems.
Next step for me is ComReg (whatever use they may be) as I am completely sick of this at this point.
currently 769 down and 32 up small improvement but still having time outs etc, i contacted digiweb friday and they relogged fault with eircom so i dont know if anything has been done apparently digiweb customers are mind readers!!! but its deffenatly not the service i had at the start there seems to be a fault in this area i agree if its not improved by tomorrow i will contact digiweb and advise i wont be paying for the last month.. and will contact comreg with regard to formal complaint be it digiweb or eircom more so eircom, ill keep you informed
Yes my friend. All back to normal today. I contacted ComReg yesterday and outlined the carry on over the past month or more with the upload issue - no email, dropped connections and all the rest. I informed them how UTV kept reporting a fault on my behalf and Eircom kept telling UTV the fault was cleared when it was not. This happened at least 4 times that I know of over past 6 weeks. I was instructed by ComReg to email a formal complaint to UTV which I did yesterday and mentioned of course that ComReg said they would escalate the issue on my behalf if it was not resolved within 10 days.
First thing this morning email from UTV to say that they had forwarded my formal complaint comments to Eircom. I checked my speed 3 hours after this email at midday and bang suddenly everything has gone back to normal. Upload today 109 Kbps !!!!! This is after around 6 weeks of fault reporting and it seems the whole thing was simply sorted in a matter of 3 hours or less.
Anyway lets hope thats the end of it and this return to normal function remains sustained. Keep in touch if any downward developments. Please feel free to PM me if necessary. And as they say - Watch this Space !!!!!!!!
