Default line of site / distance to transmitter - anyone know?

Hi folks,

I have line of site to ThreeRock from windows upstairs in my home in Ashtown, Dublin 15. I know those who offer services have transmitter there and I am wondering if there is some limit to the distance from receiver to the transmitter or with distance comes worse reception,.. like fixed line distance from exchanges!? I am no doubt closer to the transmitter in Finglas but do not have line of site as my apt is south facing and I can get onto roof to have choice of directions etc to errect any antenna.

Im particularly interested in Metro from Digiweb, but havent yet had a response to my question put to them.

Cheers
