Default Service over the last few days

Over the last few days, my 2mb connection which normally runs at a steady 1.7mb has dropped to 400-800kbs. Has there been a problem with Eircom over the bank holiday weekend? I'll not be able to ring them until Tue, but it's really annoying me. I play lots of online games, and the pings have gone through the roof.

p.s what have you all thought of eircoms service? I hear that when you ring up asking them to fix the problem, they will kindly tell you to **** off.

The line keeps disconnecting also, majorly annoying when you are top of the leaderboard on Battlefield

I will test it again tomorrow and post my report.

Hey Bloodfoot,

What Battlefield servers do you use?

I am part of a community called the conclave. We have a european server, and a north American server. I generally don't go over 50 on the european server, and not over 150 on the american.

Why, who do you play with?

http://www.conclave.cc

p.s being top of the leaderboard was an exaggeration on 1942, I much rather play the desert combat mod. Usually rank in top 5

Also, I'm gettting a steady 1.75mbs on the test. Let's hope it stays that way

Well, it was too good to be true. It seems that if you want a decent speed on eircom, you have to use it at either 3pm or 3am. WTF eircom!

Anyone else on eircom, is this a complainable offence? Will they listen or say to shut the door on my way out?

Well, my speeds are down to a measly 800-900 kb. For a 2mb line, that is utter *****

Unhappy Speeds way down since last month

My 2Mb connection was giving me 1.7 all last month now it is down to around 700 about half speed.
Can I pay Eircom half.
I work at home a lot and this causes a lot of problems.

yeah, it sound exactly like my problem. Where are you from. Is your connection randomy disconnecting from time to time?

I take it that the diconnections is an issue with the line, as it doesn't happen on any other connection i have tried.

i cant even download a 70mb file without it cutting off.

Seriously pissed with eircom

I rang them and they are sending a technician out to check the line.

Hi,
Im in Skerries, North County Dublin. Where are you?
I had Broadband from ESAT BT for the year previous and never had a speed problem. I had other problems but thats another issue.
I signed up to Eircom Broadband three months ago and had no probems for the first two months. I added a wirelesss adapter to get rid of the line across my house but was still getting 1.7 Mb which was great. In the last month however speed has about halved.
However I never had disconnection problems - I would not be able to work with this as I work from home at least one day a week.
I will contact Eircom and see where it goes.
Regards
Philip

I hope this isn't the start of trouble...

My 1meg Eircom connection normally gives a stable speedtest result of 872kbps day in day out, however today, Sunday, my results have dropped to around the 550-600 mark and quality of service has dropped from 99% to between 83% and 93%. I am about a mile and a half from the exchange. There has been an awful lot of rain over the last few days, I don't know if that maybe a factor.

Anybody else experiancing similar? Opinions?

Service back to normal this morning!

Hopefully it was just a once off and not a taste of what's to come!

well, your problem sounds just like mine.

What did eircom say to you?

I got a call from some idiot who could barely speak two words of english who said

"you can now use broadband"

I'm sorry, but Eircom are unreliable , who don't give a damn about their customers, or the service they give.

I'm changing to Smart. at least they give me a 3mb line for 2/3 the price. Which should help things along.
