Speed Yes. They initially triied to blame the internal house wiring but I have a means of plugging the modem directly into the incoming phone line thus bypassing all wiring in the house and the speed is the same. When I told them this, they tried to blame adware on my machine. Since I have three machines on a network and they all see the same speeds, that can't be the explaination, especially since one runs Windows (with spybot kept up to date), one Linux and the third MacOS X.4.1. At this stage they ran out of ideas and I gave up. I might try again in the hope of getting a more knowledgeable support person. I have had one previous reason to phone eircom support. I got nowhere with the first two people I phoned but on a third attempt got a super guy who sorted my problem. To be honest, I can live with the speed I am getting. My main worry is that it will get worse. |
