Unhappy BT Broadband.

I am with BT and since monday last the upload speed is almost 0 and the download speed was about what you would expect from a 56K modem.
Today Download speed is back to normal and up load is still almost 0

Thumbs down Eircom Broadband, still pooped

It's still knackered. Talked to a pleasant but clueless lad in Eircom customer support this morning. Couldn't give me an estimated fix time. Just did a tracert:

Tracing route to home.eircom.net [159.134.198.138]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.1.252
2 22 ms 23 ms 23 ms b-ras2.chf.cork.eircom.net [159.134.155.1]
3 20 ms 18 ms 20 ms ge15-2.corea.chf.cork.eircom.net [83.71.114.65]

4 26 ms 26 ms 26 ms 159.134.125.15
5 26 ms 25 ms 26 ms 159.134.198.138

Trace complete.

So it looks like I'm stuck behind that wonky Churchfield exchange with - wait for it - 1.7kbps download speed. That's worse than dialup!

Sigh.

Simon.

I'm with Perlico and at the moment I have 1kbps download.Over the last 3/4 days it has been going from this to a high of 112.
Saw the broadbandaware ads on t.v. tonight. What a joke.
Just wondering if I will be charged full whack for this month when I would have had faster speeds with dial-up.

My sentiments exactly. They'd be quick enough to charge you if you go over the limit or whatever so we shouldn't have to pay for a service we're not getting which by Fiday will be a week for me. I can't even update me antivirus because the server times out.

of else the lovely backhaul from churchfield got cut lol
maybe eircom havent paid their maintence bills lol

I am having the same problems SME in Inniscarra area. I had a Eircom engineer the other day. They know there is a problem. The exchanges are over loaded.

I had normal speeds for about a day. I just came home and my download speed is back down to about 30kbps. its a bloody disgrace that they can't run a decent broadband service.

Angry Still bad

Still bad out here in Belgooly / Riverstick. It was great this morning - 865kbps down which is good for me 'cos I live 5900m from the exchange. This evening it's clocking about 108kbps down and it ain't my line because my SN margin and attenuation are just fine.

Angry Broadband speeds

From what I have been reading. It would seem that when Eircom have problems every other ISP's suffers and that the exchanges are overloaded and that the system in place cannot cope. Again is not time that the Regulator would get on top of the situation and call in the ISP's and tell them that the consumers are not are not getting the product they are supposed to be getting.

I have been checking my speed with the speedtest on Irishisptest and from 1.75Mb normally with Bt on 2Mb. down to dead stop and no connection at all. Over the last few months the speed have been all over the place and TS supports are only contacted by email.

Down to 1.12 kbps at the moment in Bandon (10p.m. Thurs). It took over 2 min for page 2 of this thread to load.Today I needed to download a file and it was taking so long on my "broadband" connection that I went to my neighbour and did it on his dial-up when I got back to my pc it still had less than 1/2 down.

Cool Complaint filed with ComReg

Well I have filed a written complaint with ComReg. Might try calling them tomorrow to see if they are aware. Has anyone noticed that Eircom have filed NO service announcement concerning this outage?

just checked with my brother in Farranree (500 meters from Churchfield), and his connection is perfect 700kbps, but mine is shocking in the city centre at 7kbps.
