Default Severe slowdown on Eircom Broadband

Anyone else experiencing really bad DL speeds on Eircom in the Cork area. I'm on the Home Professional package 3mb down / 384k up.

Getting DL speeds of 38k per sec maximum.

Wanted to see if it was an isolated problem before ruining my day by calling Eircom Tech support.

Thanks.

Just phoned Broadband support. There is a problem at the Churchfield exchange. They are working on it now. That's about all the detail they have.

Just got to wait and see.

Hi All

I've heard the problem is wider than just Cork and effects everyone on the Eircom Bitstream product.

Also that other ISP TS don't seem to know what happening and can only log a fault with Eircom and tell you to wait.

I'm in Tipperary and with UTV (2MB) and getting the same speeds! The speed test I did on here showed upstream speeds of 211kbps and downstream of approx 30kbps!! So it's like as if the speeds have become reversed! All UTV could do was log the call

I'm in cork and have been having these problems since yesterday, but just a few minutes ago it cleared up and its back to the normal 2mb so it seems to have been fixed.

Aye I just checked it now and my download speed is back to 2.6 mbps. in any other country the problem more than likely would have been fixed in hours rather than days but this is ireland and the monopolistic empire of eircom we're talking about.

the problem was at churchfield, which is one of a few network peering points that eircom have. If you are from tip, waterford etc its likely that your traffic and IP assigments originate from here, you can check this by reverese DNS on your ip or doing a traceroute.

its b-ras1.chf.cork.eircom.net i believe

No. I'm still in the doldrums too and so are a few others around here (Roscrea) who are not with Eircom (BT, UTV etc.). The Eircom customers are all sorted though.
