I have just upgraded my 1Mbps service to 2Mbps and also managed to save €5/month by bundling it with my Talktime Anytime package. Anyway, a router restart this monring showed my max DL speed had been reset to 2Mbps and my measured DL speed has doubled to 1.7Mbps. So far, so good, especially given my distance from the exchange.
My max upload speed is still 128kbps, though - I expected 256kbps - and my measured UL speed is quite poor. Sometimes it's as low as 40kbps. It's not the end of the world but it is a little disappointing.
Clearly I need to contact Eircom to raise my max UL speed to 256kbps, am I right?
Also, can anyone point me in the direction of a good RADSL primer that explains how rate-adaptive modems throttle the uplink speed?
