since they "upgraded" their service it is real crap. I cannot use skype, max download speed i can get is 200 kbps and their Tech Support keep bull****ting me about firewalls, spywares, and to long telephone cables etc. ....I even formated my bloody hard drive as they suggested --> no joy. tried to connect friends laptop --> same poor result...
I am not going to extend my contract.. no way

Just incase your wondering it's not esat bts fault that your connection is slow. Esat rent most of their lines from eircom. I'm aware of the recent problem with the slow speeds. UTV customers were also having the same problem. (note: UTV cutomers are also on eircom lines)

With relation to Volthar's comment about esat giving bs tech support it is probably not their fault because esat tech support is sort of like a middle man when there is something wrong with the line. They aren't allowed to touch the lines and they get all their info from eircom.

Yes, it could be a problem with software on your computer, but you may wish to talk to eircom tech support too. The only problem is that eircom won't give you tech support since your not with them. If you know anyone who is with eircom then get them to find out what is wrong for you.

I hope that helps :!:

Default Still slow

I have the same problem same sofware and setup from before upgrade was great from start but has slowed to around 1.5-1.6 when it should 2mb and it was 2 when it first changed plus its the b. plus to so a smaller ratio should mean better speeds but this is starting to be a joke and even upload speed have gone from 40-70 when it should be 128kb... it need sorting when irishbroadband has a 2mb up and download speed for the same and ntl are the same but with a 3mb dnld Maybe it because they are now bt and not just esat...

Hey im living in Wateford and when about 9 oclock hits (their tech support closes at 8.45) i get horrific ping problems in online gaming. Theres a problem with their udp stuff, must be. Surely something can be done about this? Can anyone suggest a good isp for me to use? im on a 1mb line, get about 105 kb a sec on a good day.... but when i need it most like at nite for clan games it fails me, huge lag spikes for no reason.

It's nothing to do with the eircom lines / service that BT rent. I changed from Eircom broadband to BT to avail of their bundle package and the service is definitely slower and less responsive than it was before. I'm supposed to have a 2mbit/sec package.

I think it's something to do with BT's backhaul and core network as the line's testing perfectly.

BT/UTV etc just hire the local access equipment from eircom, they don't necessarily use eircom's network to backhaul the data from that point onwards.
