Default probs installing wireless modem

i was wondering if anyone could please give me some advice on how to set up a zyxel 660 wireless modem with my bt account, i've been trying for the last couple of days and just can't get it too connect. i've gone thru the setup guide a thousand times and can't figure out what i'm doing wrong or if bt has a special setting which i'm not familiar with.

What other equipment are you using or are you using it by itself?

thanks for the quick response. i am using it on its own, just unplugging the old mod/router and plugging it in. i have used the setup disc and gone thru the zyxel web configurator, everything seems ok there, except when i start diagnose every test fails. would there be an ip conflict if the old router is registered with bt, i'm at a loss

BT's favourite "fix" in this scenario is to disconnect the router for at least 15 minutes, to ensure that the exchange equipment and upstream side is forced to renegotiate when reconnecting.

I spent more time than I like trying to get a linksys to connect to a Zyxel router over the weekend, and noticed that the ADSL side was very flakey, and losing the connect way too often. That might be a factor.

Another possibility is your log on password for the router, there's confusion in BT over if it's lower case or upper case, and I've not got to the bottom of that yet.

Is the router configured for PPPOE, or defaulting to DHCP, that will for sure cause it to get very upset. If it's not set to PPPOE, then it will sulk and fail everything.
