Cool BT apologised!! Am I unique?

I am a residential customer of theirs for 8-9 years all the way back to Esat Clear. Their customer care is the stuff of legend. The most recent example was when they cut me off for non-payment. As it turned out I could not open their e-bills and they cut me off after I had just made a payment. As a teleworker, I could not work for 6 days. I used a Wi-Fi hotspot in my town to limp along.

After two months of messing around and having called into their HQ in Grand Canal Quay I got a written apology and €108 ex-gratia payment.

And why am I still with them, you ask. Well eircom is a non-runner from a point of principle and the rest of them are as bad as BT so I am not going to jump out of the frying pan into the fire.

Sad but true!

It is sad. Unfortunetely it is also true. However, dispite reports of BT's billing department from hell, I've been lucky. I'm with them now since February 2006, and I'm quite happy! Well, as happy as I could be. Their service is on-par with what they promised, for me, so far. Let's hope it continues and/or improves with the probable release or upgrading of new technologies in the future!

I have had Broadband with BT since September 04 and was happy enough. Switched phone over to BT as well from Eircom in September 06 on a 3MB + Line Rental 50 euro a month deal and was double charged on every two month bill for full cost line rental and BB for the November January March and May Bills. Lost count of the number of calls to BT customer service who said it'd be fixed only for a huge bill to come in the following month.
Eventually went to ComReg who told me to go back to BT and give them 10 days to send a letter stating they were refunding over charging. Left it three weeks..no letter...went back to ComReg....got a call from BT following morning and another call the day after saying they were sorry and were recrediting overcharge. No written apology but at least it's some progress after months and months of hassle.
It's typical...you have to go to the regulator to get anything done. Am still waiting until the 24th of this month though to see will the bill show the credit
