I forgot to mention that I've done this on my home PC, which indeed works and causes the page to load up much quicker also. This may be an issue on the move when using someone else's PC, but a portable version of Firefox on a pen drive with the extension may be a work around.

This evening, that SEI ad was persistently coming up on my home PC again. I can confirm that this issue affects IE7, Firefox (except using the Adblock Plus plugin) and Safari to some extent. It causes Opera to stop responding and makes it awkward to leave the speedtest as Opera by default reloads the last visited page when its opened again.

So the SEI ad is causing issues? If so I can simply block them from the site

As for other people experiencing issues - we've tested on most browsers that we have access to and the only issue people might be experiencing is a cached version of the old applet ie. pre-upgrade. Clearing your cache should solve that

If the SEI thing is the issue please email support@blacknight.com and we can block them

can confirm its not working on IE7 or opera 9.27 and for the people going to scream about the test not working for a day or so bear in mind the work it takes to keep this site and speedtest running and that we are not being charged for the speedtest we do not even need to register or sign in to use it!

So there have been a few problems all of which have been fixed fairly swiftly.... If you are that concerned about permanent access to this free service why not download your own free(!) personal version of this speed test program from:
MySpeed PC - Free Speed Test software for your PC

But, don't stop visiting the forum regularly. There's a lot more here than just a speed test.
