Default Speedtest and OS X v. 10.5.3 - Firefox & Safari

Just to add this into the mix. There was a recent OS X update with some security patches and since then I have been unable to run a Speedtest. The java applet does not load, I only see a page icon with a red X where the applet used to load. This is possibly a separate issue from the general postings about the new speedtest update.

My Java is Version 1.5.0 (build 1.5.0_13-b05-237) and the console shows the following

In firefox the message in the bottom left corner reads 'Applet myspeed notloaded'

Ok. It should be working fine now and I'll ask one of our sysadmins to put ina permanent fix on Tuesday

Essentially the new speed test uses a dedicated socket to socket connection on port 443 ie. it isn't running via apache. When this server was physically moved on Friday afternoon it was shutdown and restarted, but we forgot to restart the java daemon

Sorry about that

For my own sanity I'll close this thread.

If there are any new issues please start a new thread (there's currently about 3 on the same topic)
