Default Running a Speed Test

Hi there,

I'm a new member and have made several attempts to run a speed test. However, when I enter my ISP and Speed that's as far as things go!

I'd expect a GO or RUN TEST button, but there's nothing.

Have I a problem or am I not doing something correctly?

For several days now I have been unable to run a speed test, I have written twice via email contact and have been totally ignored ---no reply.

I expected more from this site as they have been very alert in the past but now they have gone assleep!!!!!!

Hi culli

Less of the negative comments about BK please.

In case you have not noticed this site is provided free of charge by BK who has always responded to the concerns of the members with efficiency and courtesy.

As regards contacting this site the appropriate means is by submitting a post, that way all members can participate and even suggest solutions which is the very essence of a forum like this.

BTW we have just come out of a holiday period during which BK found it difficult to get tech support for the speedtest [the speedtest is provided by a third party].

Keep up the good work BK

Howfast

Thumbs up patience used to be a virtue...

yep all things can not be perfect all of the time or the repair shops would shut down!

keep up the good work with the site and FREE speedtest as well as your other work, hols etc

p.s. i just get some google ads where test box should be, dont get an error message like others.

I second Howfast here. It's a great site which I've used for ages and it's FREE. If you want to slag off someone for poor service I'd first of all pick someone who actually gives poor service (which isn't BK) and then I'd pick someone who doesn't give up his time and effort for no reward. (again not BK).

How long's a piece of string? Personally I'd just wait until BK responds as it's obvious he's aware of the problem but no doubt has other thing's going on in his life. However if I can refer you to Howfast's post.....

If your problem isn't like those referred to in my original thread then following Howfast's advice might help you solve it.

Cheers,

Sorry for not replying to this thread sooner.

Just to clarify a few things.

The test was not working at all for a couple of days due to configuration issue on our end following the upgrade.

That issue was resolved.

We then discovered due to the posts here and various emails that we received that the speed test applet was not displaying for some people.

Since neither myself nor any of our programming team use Windows it took us a bit of time to work out that while it displays perfectly in Firefox (and other Mozilla derivatives) it does not display in Internet Explorer.

I was hoping that our lead programmer would get a chance to tweak the code used to display the applet this afternoon / evening, but we've got him working hard on a couple of other projects, so he didn't get to it.

We are not ignoring the issue and all emails will be replied to

Thanks

Michele

As an interim solution I've created a page for Internet Explorer / Opera users:
http://www.irishisptest.com/custompage.html

Ok. The "proper" page should be working now.

Could someone using Internet Explorer please confirm?

Thanks

Michele,

That's working fine now.

I had to update my version of Java, but once that was done, the test worked fine.

Thanks to all at Blacknight for all your efforts. Keep up the great work.

AB

PS: I am using IE

Great

This bug was driving me mad for the last couple of days.

It turns out that it was a silly little issue with a html tag not being closed properly!!

If anyone has any feedback on the new test please do let us know

As I mentioned in another thread, we're hoping to add some new funky features, but if there are other things that we can do we'll look at them

Yup - it's gone again.

The applet window opens but the test does not display.
