Default Live bandwidth stats

Hi there,
I use irishisptest.com every now and again and find it very useful but sometimes the tests are inaccurate every once in while. Probably due to the site becoming more and more busier,

Would possible to have a live stat of the current bandwidth being used on your connection to the server that the site is hosted on. Much like what is on http://ftp.heanet.ie/ . This way user would know if there is enough bandwidth available to test their connection.

The bandwidth we have is fully burstable, so that should not be an issue. It is possible, however, that the server is busy ie. lots of users on this site and other ones hosted on this particular server

Heanet are showing you their network uplinks for their entire network afaik not just the actual server you are looking at (I could be mistake)
In either case they are running a very different service:

May I ask what is your uplink/downlink bandwidth on the irishisptest.com site.

I’ve tested it on the college network one evening when it was quite, got about 14Mbit down and 12Mbit up, on a T3, 45Mbit connection. Ran the test on one of the servers so that all the bandwidth would be available.

Although the java test application is clocked to a T4 what would be the maximum speed that can be tested?

We are not at liberty to discuss our network infrastructure

I'm not sure, but it's not designed for testing the kind of connection you are using. It's primary aim has always been to assist domestic and business users of DSL / ADSL and cable. It is not intended to test servers.
