Vodafone may be slower than O2 (yet), but the service is second to none. On the edge of a cell here, with no other broadband options (except 3), it seems as though NOTHING (short of planting a transmitter in my garden, though I have asked) has ever been too much trouble to get, and sustain a 3g connection for me.

Currently running at 700kbps+ down and 300kbps+ up, on only two bars.

I have recently aquired a mobile phone that is locked to 3. The transmitter is 5 miles closer, and only two miles away (with clear line of sight), but the signal swings wildly between 5 bars and no signal and is usually weaker than the Vodafone signal...

It doesn't look good.

Default O2, Vodafone & 3

I have now used all three wireless broadband providers and i am really disappointed with all networks. I live in bray and was told by all networks that the signal strength in my area would support the higher end downloads of over 2mb but i never once got near 1 mb except with vodafone when i get about 890kb at max . I am now returning all of the modems with the 14 day trials which i am really annoyed with. I am now signing up with the monopoly of eircom with a wireless modem. Shame really - i hope the networks get better signals and give eircom a decent run for their money
