Default Best place to buy CDs?

Where is the best place to buy CDs online?

I've tried most places at this stage, but as I have quite eclectic tastes I keep on ending up back on Amazon

Can anyone recommend other online vendors?

The best for chart CDs I find is CD-WOW for price and service (also DVDs), 2nd is BLAH link http://www.blahdvd.com/blah/Home.aspx

I rate Amazon.com. as only a last resort as you pay approx 1/3 extra for post & packing ( they use a box too big for the average letterbox) and the delivery takes weeks but you will normally find the obscure cd there.

If you interested in Classical music, drop me a private note as I have loads of sites to direct you
PS Including modern plink-plong Heads!

I've shopped at cdwow, (before they were brought to heel by EU Regulations re:Vat) and I've also had a good experience with www.secondspin.com. It's an american site for 2nd hand Cds and DVDs - Top Quality I've found

In January 2004 they were targeted by high street retail companies in the UK and Ireland (HMV, Virgin and others in the form of the British Phonographic Industry) for importing CD's from outside the continent (they said below cost selling but CD-wow are a hong kong based company). They had to increase there prices by 2 to 3 euro which brought them into line with retail high street shops. They had no choice since the retail shops were pushing hard for them to be shut down. But somehow (i dont know how exactly) a month later they were able to remove the extra 2-3 euro from products. So they are now back being cheap. You also wont be caught by VAT on products from cd-wow since there is a limit on what VAT can be charged on products (something around 35 sterling) and since cdwow send items seperately and also put the value of the item on the box you will unlikely ever be chased up for VAT. Hope this makes sense.

Spot on! Cookie

I wouldn't use anyone else but for the fact, they don't have many Arthouse films nor have they the facility to let you pre-order a new release that isn't on their pre-lease list i.e. series 5 "six feet under" due out at the end of March.

Yea! You got there before me, Blacknight!

I was delayed by comparing prices with CD-Wow (no postage) against 33% extra for Ceol/Amazon and no doubt three week delivery!!

At least it gave me a distraction from my Windows Defender problem (see different thread)

I run a couple of those stores for other sites

They're pretty handy and sometimes the delivery rates and times can make it worthwhile if you buy from an Amazon seller in the marketplace (as opposed to Amazon directly)

For example:
http://www.linuxmall.net (US)
http://www.linuxmall.co.uk (UK)

For popular CDs, Welcome to BangCd is best. It's cheaper than CD-Wow and delivery is quicker. It's a similar style of operation to CD-Wow, but based in Singapore.

For more obscure things, I buy from BlahDVD.com: Shop online for cheap DVDs, CDs, Games, Books, Music Downloads & MP3 Players or from Amazon Marketplace sellers (particularly Import CD Specialists or Caiman). I never buy directly from Amazon because it always works out too expensive.

A useful site for locating CDs and comparing prices is Cheap CDs, but you will have to make allowance for some suppliers having different delivery rates to Ireland.

But their delivery charges start at USD6.99 to Western Europe, so they can't be that cheap!

I can't find any examples of CDs that are cheaper at CD Universe. Remember that you can get most popular CDs from BangCD or CDWow for between EUR10 and EUR12 (about USD12 to USD15) including delivery. Allowing for the USD6.99 delivery charge, see what CDs you can find at CD Universe for less than USD5 or USD8. Even picking a more obscure title that isn't available cheaply from BangCD or CDWow, I could still buy it for EUR2 less from BlahDVD than from CD Universe.
