Arrow PC game lag

I have a Windows Vista home premium computer with an NIVIDA 8500GT graphics card with 256MB, an Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600 each core operates at 2.4 GHz, 2 x 4 MB L2 cache, 1066 MHz FSB. I have a 500 GB SATA II hard drive. Dual channel 2048 MB DDR2 memory, Memory Card Reader 15-in-1. I have a 32-bit operating system and 2030 MB of rams. My problem is, however, that I have constant game lag while playing all next gen gaming titles (offline). Games such as Bioshock, Jericho, Call of Duty 4, ect. I am not able to play these games on the highest graphic settings without lag, (sometimes not even fair graphic settings). I don't understand why.

Because the 8500GT is a budget card not up to the job.

Edit:You have a good system, get an 8800GT and all your problems will be over(at least for those games).

ha splash out and buy a 8800ultra, pc gaming is an expensive hobbie and another 2 gigs of ram would not go astray. joking aside tho 256mb video ram is not up to the job get something with 512mb + memory. also if you can't afford a high end card turn the resolution down.

yeah your graphics card is the bottle neck.

don't bother with the 8800 ultra they're REALLY expensive, but the 8800 GT / 8800 GTS

its all here...

GeForce 8 Series - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

what you really need is a wider bus architecture the 8500 has only 128 which will play older games fine but will struggle with anything new new - ala Crysis.

The 8800 GT / GTS have 256-bit, which should do you fine.

But if you do want to splash out you can try and get a 8800 Ultra with 384-bit, but for the price doesn't equal the extra cost in my book!

Also if all else fails just buy two 8800 GTS's and whack those babies in Sli!!!
