Default Best Place to Get a PS3?

What's the best place, in terms of price, to get a PlayStation 3?

I'm more interested in using it as a blu ray player than actually playing games

Probably ebay if you trust it.

Prices are the same everywhere. be careful of ebay, some dodgy sellers there.

Try Xtravision. you get about 50 Euro in rental vouchers with a console and they do good bundles.

Use the vouchers to rent your blueray films. They are way too big to download yet.

I buy quite a bit of stuff off ebay and haven't had that many bad experiences

Xtravision seem to have really odd pricing. The bundled deal is currently cheaper than the standalone PS3!

Why on earth would you want one?. If gaming history has thought us anything, its that a console is only as good as its games. And so far the Ps3 has been lacking in titles to say the least.
If I was you i would wait a while before I hand over that much cash.

Default Re PS3

A word of warning from experience. There may be good prices for PS3s on Pixmania at PIXMANIA, but I had a very bad experience on the only occasion I dealt with them. Good prices for most stuff but I wouldn't touch them again even with a very long bargepole! It would take me a couple of A4 pages to detail the trauma/crap I endured. First.. when I tried to get a refund for the return postage cost of a keyboard they sent me instead of the printer I had ordered. Second... when I tried to get a refund of the printer cost after I cancelled the order because of the delivery cock-up. I did eventually get both refunds but the two months it took with emails flashing to and fro, not to mention the faxes and phone-calls, didn't do my blood pressure any good at all!

As I already said, I want it as a Blu Ray player.

I have absolutely no interest in using it as a console

I suppose I could build a mini-media centre for the European blu ray, but it's a lot of hassle

Ive been waiting Metal Gear Solid 4 to come out before I get the PS3. It'll be out
in a month. Some decent games out now or on the way. GTA IV, The Orange
Box, The Getaway, COD4 although I'd recommend this one on PC.

You need to "bridge" the connection from the 3modem, through your laptop or PC. This means that the PC/Laptop must be on at all times while you play online with the PS3.

Personally, don't know if it would be worth your while - the pings with 3 are horrendous, and in the majority of cases far too high to sustain online gameplay.
