Default PS3 Call of Duty 4 Variety Pack, Careful !!!

Hi Folks.

I have an Irish bought PS3. I bought a new PS3 game off Ebay (irish seller)for 46 Euro versus 66 from xtravision. No problems until I downloaded the new maps pack for the game from the playstation store. Downloaded and installed ok but no new maps within the game. After googleing for a while, discovered that Sony region locked the new map packs. Checked my ebay bought game and discovered its a US version, region 1. Brillant.

Just thought you should check the spine for you cd case and there's a code which should match the map pack you download else your throwing away 10 quid.

Regards,

Dec.

Default Sony Playstation store are a bunch of Scam artists

Update. Sony are really pissing me off.
If I buy a krups kettle or a black and decker drill from a store and find they dont work, I bring the item back to the store, NOT to krups and B&D.

Sony made a big play that all their PS3 games were region free, i.e. you could buy a game in the states or china ...etc and it would happily play in your machine at home. THEN WHY OH WHY !!!!!! make any add ons that you may want to purchase REGION LOCKED ?????????

Playstation store are washing their hands of this one and blaming the game providor Activision. So initially, thousands downloaded the wrong region maps for their game, Sony then added a caution note do the download pack making customers aware that the map pack will only work with such a disk but the writing is tiny. Most people that download this stuff do it for their kids and wouldnot be tech savvey.

So now still there's people getting caught for ten euros which Sony Corp. say thanks a bunch for that money for nothing.

I'm not letting go of this one, I hate big corporations ****ing the little people.

Small claims court next stop. Me Versus Sony.

Lets bring it on

Not sure if the SCC cover Ebay purchases, since it would be considered a private purchase.

In any case, all you need to do is create a second Play Station account on your PS3, except when setting it up make it a US one. Then, when you want to download map packs, log in through the US account and access the US PSN store. Once you download and install the map packs, simply log out of the US account and log into your one as normal - you'll be able to access all of the content you installed from your ordinary account without a problem. It's just you just need to download it through an account that matches the region of the game first.

Hope this helps you.
