Default Problems with pop-ups

A friend of mine and his son have been using this site for playing games:www.dragongamez.com. A day or so ago Pseudo error messages have started to plague the site and with them Some porn and invitations for screen-savers and "free" system scans etc etc. I haven't actually seen at first hand the exact problems as he lives quite a distance away. He has run Spybot and Ad-Aware but still the problem persists. He has also deleted all internet files and cookies. I can no longer advise him. He's terrified that his son will be tempted to click one of these things and then he could be in real trouble. This is their first PC and everything is still relatively new to them. Any Suggestions?

Get Mozilla Firefox and use it instead of Internet Explorer. Its much safer. Get it on www.download.com.
When you do make sure you 'Block Popup Windows' in the Tools menu.
Also he should probably teach his son what not to click on. It becomes obvious after a while.
Im assuming the son is old enough to understand. Hope some of this helps.

Chris firefix does block about 90% of pop ups but some do get through. It's more powerful at blocking than internet explorer but if you want to continue using Internet explorer and not firefox download google toolbar (google.com) and this can integrate with internet explorer and does a very good job at blocking pop-ups. I myself love firefox and find it better than Internet explorer. Tab browsing is just one reason for this

Firefox would have blocked all popups initially, but the scumware writers are now writing popups and other junk that circumvent it.
Having said that it's still a lot better than IE

Hey Chris,

Firefox will let you know when there is an update available and give you the
option to install it there and then. There was an update today.

Thumbs up

Hello again. In case you're interested in what became of the pop-ups I referred to at the outset - my friend informs me that he checked his Norton Internet Security settings and discovered that a box that he thought had been checked, had somehow managed to be un-checked. Having made the appropriate change he now tells me that the pop-ups have disappeared!
If only everything else were that simple!! Thanks for the replies though
