Default Download interrupted! How can I fix it?

Hey,

I was trying to d/l a 3.32Gb file today and it failed at 2.5Gb.

Does anyone know how I can resume it at 2.5Gb????

I'd usually just restart the download but I'm only a few gig's off my quota for this month so can't .

I'm using Firefox 2.0, and it hasn't been closed since it happened.

Any help would be great

Hi BrianMcEire

I'm not sure I can help you restart this D/L but you should try using Download Accelerator Plus for all large D/L. I've used this app since my dialup days and have found it still useful as it facilitates restarting broken downloads.

Thanks for the program.

I guess I should have been running something like that on a large download

Will do the next time.
Many thanks.

Hi

It may be a silly question but did you try to resume the download when you lost the connection? I've never known DAP to kick you out without being able to resume unless the download site doesn't suppoprt resume download but that's pretty unusual these days.

If you have tried resume already then if you PM me the file details I'll see if I can get DAP to DL the complete 3.3GB and let you know if I'm successful.

Hey,

Thanks for the input, but to be honest I've deleted the file and gone with a torrent program instead - its Linux Yellow Dog 5, so its cool.

Oh and yea I tried to restart the download but as far as I could make out, the program believed the file had been downloaded fully - unfortunately not the case though!

Just for interest it was a swiss ftp - ftp://mirror.switch.ch/mirror/yellowdog/ which was giving nice speed 250-300kps, but cut me off twice!

So now stuck with speeds of 15kps and using up twice as much quota!

Ah well!

Hi BrianMcEire

I think your problem with the cutoff D/L was caused by the ftp site you used, I too was cut off by ftp://mirror.switch.ch/mirror/yellowdog/ at about 1GB.

However when this occurs the standard solution to seek is to try another ftp site. This is especially true of progs like yellowdog.

I got the full D/L from SUNET's Index of /pub/os/Linux/distributions/yellowdog/iso at a blazing 311KBps

hi There
Not so long ago i downloaded Fedora core 7 and found download accelerator a bit dodgy. I use it perfectly myself for a long time without failure. So i got the torrent version. I used Bittorrent as per download instructions. Got the image i needed without any problems.... apart from my very slow broadband connection... but that is a problem for another side of this forum.

Default Got it!

Finally got it to work, after letting the quota levels drop.

Got yellowdog-5.0.2-20070629 , now to go off and install it

Cheers for the ftp recommendation
