outlook express incomong mail issues

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HI There
Just wondering if anyone has seen this before. When i open outlook express i get a connection error. I have an eircom account and when i chek the account propertiesmy incoming mail server is 127.0.0.1 this should be
mail2.eircom.net, I have changed this to the corrwct setting and applied it but it keeps defaulting back to the other server address. I have ran spybot and lavasoft and cleared what that has found but above issue remains unresolved.
any ideas????

Default I had similar problems

It's a long time ago so I can't remember the exact symptoms but they were similar.

Are you by any chance runiing an early version of Mcafee spamkiller? the older versions changed the mail2.eircom.net to something very similar to what you describe. If so the problem is within your spamkiller settings, You should go into them and delete your email address and then re-enter it. better still update your mcafee.

Other solutions, uninstall Outlook express with add/remove programs, try the eircom tech support, they are usually pretty helpful

Some of the antivirus software uses a proxy to handle mail, so it changes your email settings to use 127.0.0.1
You *should* be able to disable it...
