Hi There
I'm with o2, in the Carlow area & mine seems to perform similar to yours. As you say, when it's good it's great !! But that's not very often ... I get "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page" .... etc, etc, so often, that Im starting to see it in my sleep !!! I'm now looking for a new provider.

Is that a connection issue or is it just the DNS that's a bit flaky?

Default o2

i dont get the "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page" thing. More often than not it"s the speed or lack of it that spoils it. 7pm seems to be witching hour and everything slows to a crawl, before that everythings good or great..

The QoS results we've been seeing from a lot of the mobile providers aren't that impressive. We'll hopefully have some stats for public consumption tomorrow

Default o2 service

I agree, located in Galway myself in good reception area have being testing various modems, o2 speeds are far better than 3 network which isnt suprising, but overall i think mobile broadband is just not able to cope with demand at peak time hours, fair enough o2 have done their homework regards setting up the modems properly to ease pressure on transmitter nodes, but service is downgraded when there is high demand from 5 - 9PM, and thats not good enough @40euro a month, One should get what they pay for, but with speeds varying from 30kbps to 2.5mbps think i'l be leaving mine back to the shop!

P.S. Installed FireFox the other day, much faster than internet explorer which is a help, but im afraid all the above still applies

Can anyone tell me if you get your own IP address with o2 mobile broadband. Unlike 3 where you share IPs with several others. Also, has anyone set up a server with o2 on their local network and got a successful incoming tcp connection..?

Thanks

All three providers (3, O2 , Vodafone) use the same 3G technology (UMTS) in their own individual networks. They all provide the same modem for subscribers' use.
