Yes i admit i am basing that on the free version.I should have been more specific as i have never used the full version.Nor as a single user would i be concerned about value as someone in your position would be.
I do however stand by opinion of AVG Free,in comparison to Kaspersky or even Nod32 it is pathetic. This is based on personal experience both with my own computer and repairing other peoples. As i have stated i have repaired computers that had AVG free installed with the help of Kaspersky and found them to be infected.

I use Avast! Pro. The free version is pretty good but as the old saying goes "you get what you pay for". The pro version is exellent. I heard nothing but great things about NOD 32 but haven't tried it yet. I might try it in my x32 windows (I use x64 as my main OS) but I havn't booted to Windows 32 in ages soo we'll see ...

Avast is cool. Pandasoftware online scanner is good too and free, but it will only delete virus not spyware.

And like a lot of people keep away from Norton and McAfee.

I use Zone alarm secutiry suite - all in one job with anti virus spyware and firewall and junk mail filter along with a few other features too. Spyware remover can be a bit blind at times but I think you need to scan using a couple of different apps to be sure to be sure like.
I'd avoid mcafee/norton like the clap! Seems to be SOOO slow and resource hungry, whenever I'm maintaining friends PC it's the first thing I get rid of and it takes about 10 mins to uninstall it.

I use Avast 4.7 Home Edition and it's pretty reliable and updates automatically.
Try it.

AVG Free 7.5 all the way, in conjunction with SpyNoMore 2.56....
Had SERIOUS problems while using Norton 2006; AVG and SNM sorted out all in a matter of minutes

I use Kaspesky suite, has kept my computer safe for over a year with regular updates. I like the way that even if a virus was downladed to my computer, it would have to ask permission to affect any other process outside of a few exceptions. The exceptions can be very specific. Ever since switching to firefox the adware stopped. If you are plagued by adware I'd use webroot spysweeper, used to fill the gaps left by norton when I used it.

I use norton 07' only due to the fact I have a friend who knows one of the Symantec reps and can get me hooked up no charge. I also use the usual spyware kit (i.e. Lavasoft,Spybot S&D). Have tried various other utilities like AVG
PCillin and Panda.

The reason some people are against Norton and McAfee is because they realise these programs are resource hogs that dont even do their job particularly well.
