Default SKY + Installation

Im getting SKY installed next week.i had UPC (Chorus) the whole time.i never had a problem with them but it works out much cheaper to get sky.

I just have 2 questions hopefully sxomeone will know the answer

(1)I do have a phone line at home but it is for incoming calls only.Does this make a difference?

(2)Do SKY have Broadband in ireland yet?

Hi

In answer to your questions 1 yes and 2 no. A fully active phone line is required for Sky+ for the first year or so, as they tend to request info from the unit during the night from time to time and if there is no reply they could disconnect your card.

In relation to their broadband however they claim the irish phone voltage will not suit their setup so they will probally not operate here.

if your phone connection is not suitable you can pay an extra fee, €40 i think for a phone free sky installation.

the only reason they have the phone line is to see what you are watching for marketing puroses and you will have to pay the fee if you deny them this information!

Sky+ box's are FREE now, you do know that? you only have to pay for installation.

Free yeah? Nice one, last I heard they were gone down to €49. Best gadget I have is Sky+, wouldn't trade it for anything!!

Sky web site still says €45 for sky + box. Although the subscription is now free I think, whereas before you could be charged €15 /months if you didn't subscribe to any premium packages - which I thought was a joke for whats really a hardware feature that you've already paid for, not a service. I'll be droping movies if thats the now the case!

i'm confused now i have sky already so how much will it cost to upgrade to sky+?

would saying you want rid of sky as you cant record on more than one channnel help getting it free?
