Why are so many threads locked on this site?

I was looking at the Speed Test forum with its "Forum feedback" and "Feedback & discussion" sub forums and 99% of the threads are locked.

Defeats the purpose of debate surely.

they were locked to defeat some sad-act spam artists earlier in the year! feel free to start your own threads and the discussion will follow

As already mentioned, we had to tweak the site's settings to automatically close threads that hadn't had a reply in 30 days or more.

Most of the spam attacks are against older threads, but you are free to start any new thread
