Default Slow Dial Up speeds

Hi Folks,

I'm new to this forum and have a query that some of you may be able to give me some tips on. My parents in law asked me to look at their internet, that it was slow, they are using a 56k moodem. When i dialled in, i saw that the speed was something like 9k, which as you can imaging was unworkably slow. I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this and improve the speed. Do any of you have any tips? There is one cable from phone line into modem, which is about 3-4 metres, but should be workable, there is something else wrong and i don't know what it is

Hey,

There isn't anything you can do to improve dial-up speeds. .. .. .. 9kb is actually quite good, (for dial-up of course).

The only opinion is to give an ISP a buzz about getting broadband.

Really, get broadband........
