Thumbs down Digital TV Packages

As I DISPISE Sky TV, just interested to know how many of ye have Sky or another popular TV package.
Most of my friends have it but I just don't get the facination like, it's complete trash! Whenever I'm in someones house we end up watching Sky.... and the worst thing is after spending ten mins trying to find something to watch we'd end up watching RTE 1 or 2 on it! (And no, I'm not so old that I call network 2 RTE2! I'm quiet young).
The prices and extras they expect ppl to pay are a joke!

Hi Stuartbloom
You can tune UTV and the ITV regions in manually and they will be stored under other channels. Unfortunatly you cant get Channel 4 or 5 at the moment. Try these Settings.
Press the Services button on your remote control.
Press the 4 button twice.
Fill in the settings below and follow the on-screen instructions:-

The UTV/ITV channels are as follows:-
10758 V 22 5/6
10832 H 22 5/6
10891 H 22 5/6
10906 V 22 5/6

I had NTL's MMDS for years and there were always problems with them. I have never had a problem in the 4 or 5 years ive been with Sky

Yeah, I have this, but you cant get the details of the TV programs coming up, and you have to go to other chanels to view it, hardly seemless.

BBC is already there, you dont need another card. I find sky decent enough.
There is a wide variety of channels which should suit most people. I cant see
why anyone would say its complete trash. If you do its probably because you
dont like watching tv at all.

I had an aerial for years and was happy enough with the terrestrial channels - but then the interference became too much. I tried [i]CHORUS[i]as an alternative. I really wanted their digital package but there was a tree in the way so I had to settle for the analogue signal. This soon proved to be a waste of money so in the end I relented and due to pressure from wife - I now have SKY. It's OK.....as long as you don't mind wading through interminable drivel and endless advertisements!

I have NTL digital,
I'm not fond of Sky purely because of the system for browsing.
I got the Movies and Sports with ntl and all the extra kids channels
witch came free with the subscriptions(needed when you have 2 children).
I had the movies first and ntl offer all the sprots channels for an extra €10
which is not a bad deal but if you do have Sky go out and buy decent scart leads, the scart leads that sky supply with the box are rubbish and you could pick the same quality up in any €2 shop.

I think one of the reasons I don't like sky is because they make ppl pay even more money more for certain soccer matches and movies like. As if its not enough to pay 60-70 euro already. They also want you to pay for the Sky+ service if you don't sign up for any extra premium packages - as far as I can work out Sky+ is just a hardware thing not a service so maybe they actually cant stop you actually using it if you haven't subscribed to it. Sky+ is pretty handy. My problem could be that I'm never at home to actually watch things I want!
