Default bebo

Ive started to use bebo to contact and communicate with my friends. So far it
seems like a good way of getting to know people better and have a bit of craic too.
Anyone else got any opinions of bebo?

Yeah absolutly hate it!

worst use of internet ever,

its a breading ground for pedofiles and rapests I mean have any of you guys even SEEN what people are posting on that website i.e. pictures, names home addresses, school addresses, age, sex phone numbers I mean basically you can use bebo to fine out ANYTHING about ANYBODY on it!

people need to start to cop on to this website!!

I also hate it because in college during my computer science exams I needed to finish a JAVA program and out of 60 computers in the lab 50 where used by people on bebo. everywhere in college you go you cant get a computer because of "the bebo generation"

it seems to be completely inhabited by a slightly younger more nieeve generation i.e. just a couple of years older than me.....

its even starting to infect my work place with all the computers in the canteen used up by people on bebo...LOL well not any more I blocked it on the access control lists!!! lol just for a while and watch the chaos!!

People need to cop on to how to use the bebo website properly. Its possible to allow just
your known friends to access your info. The site is fine if used properly like this.
But a lot of people don't.

i have had many an arguement with my children about bebo...but im not giving in,,,i have heard too many horror stories from friends about the site....so i have it blocked....i know it could be a great place to meet new friends but my paternal instinct wont give in...children are so internet savvy these days i recon they could undo any safeguards i impose on the site..so i have it blocked with my firewall...maybe im an ole fuddy duddy but i love my children dearly and wouldnt sleep at night knowing that there might be a chance that the person they thought they were talking to was not who they said they were....a pedo or something....they can be very clever....there was one in my family and he was extreamly clever.....children that didnt know any better loved him....to thier misfortune im sorry to say...so thats probably the underlying reason i wont allow my children access to bebo...appoligies for the long post.....all the best

Bebo is for kids.
For some strange reason though adults are using it aswell

I saw a bloke that looked about 30 today driving up the street with his Bebo address stuck onto the side of his redneck mobile Civic.LMAO

As for the dangers of kids using it well IMO it is up to the parents to educate their kids about the dangers not ban them from using it(you cant anyway, internet cafes/friends houses, wherever).

On the other hand alot of people tend to assume that because their kids are "tech savvy" to some extent that that also means they are wise to the ways of the world. This obviously couldnt be further from the truth.
My girlfriends kid sister uses Bebo so we decided to check her space out.
Hah!!What a revelation,13 year olds dressed in not much or even underwear showing off,not to mention arranging times and places to meet.
All for everyone to see.
Perhaps its time for kids to get educated about internet safety at school(maybe its happening already?),after all many parents still have little clue about what the internet is nevermind what their kids might be doing on it.

just relax people... bebo is an incredably safe site...they make it really easy to block people from your page or report them. also the amount of info you give is entirely up to you...you only need to give your name...which can be fake. So, I think parents should educate children about using social networking sites such as bebo or myspace and regularly check their pages! they dont have to know that you are checking it. Blocking it will not work... i know several ways of unblocking blocked websites and i have at least ten friends on bebo whose parents told them not to!

only way to properly protect ppl from sites like bebo you tube etc is to ban them! i signed into bebo as 15yo giving all "my info" to check how easy it was and its too easy!!! and had 14 msgs within an hour probably ten from genuine teens god only knows who else has mailed me since then. it's definitely NOT for kids in its current format!

I have an account on Bebo, but I've never used it

I don't find any of those sites particularly amazing

Facebook seems to be very popular with people at the moment, but I prefer LinkedIn

Maybe it's my age?

all these sites have "safeguards" for sharing info etc but no 12/13yo thinks of their own security when their friends are raving aboout bebo etc and all they want to do is sign up for their friends sites.
the adults know all about this and are experts in psychology knowing exectly what to say to a child in any situation, only safe way is block these sites or "closely" monitor a childs use of bebo etc but parents dont have time for this!!

I'd feel the same about all of the community networking sites - waste of time. I had an account on bebo which I never used and I deleted a few months ago. I avoid all the other ones, but I don't believe that age has anything to do with it because while blacknight might be in his 30's I've only just finished my Leaving Cert.

really its a case of "do parents really know where their children are and who they are with" parents seem very willing to pass care of their children over to anyone that can spare the time!

ah really its a case of society breaking down even more! people especailly children have no respect for others or their property anymore and i dont mean that "gangsta" respect you can now be shot for not proffering children are raised to fear nobody and are told by parents that not even the police can touch them so they can and DO exactly whatever they want with the full backing of their parents regardless of who it hurts or affects and parents seem to have no time for raising their poor unfortunate children as they allow everyone else to MIND them(bebo etc) then scream bloody murder to everyone except their children when it all falls apart. its time to bring back just some of the old-fashioned values before its too late where children can be punished for the vandalism and anti-social behavior that at the moment is regarded as normal play-acting

A little off topic?
Older people describing kids as disrespectful has been going on since, well always.
I am going to resist the urge to argue with you in this thread but feel free to start a new one on the subject
