Was in Pc World yesterday and they had a Book on the OS.
Then I am an Apple Man. Switched from a PC about 2 years ago. Would not go back to a PC again.

I'm the opposite - Used Macs for years and then switched to PC. Tempted by the new macs tho, expecially the improved windows program compatibility but then I look at the price and think their just not worth it unless you really need them.
Can't see myself even trying Vista until its been over a year or so - at least some of the bugs might be ironed out by then.
It's not just Vista that's the issue, it's the anti virus, firewall, spyware checker, Adobe reader, and all the other essentials that have to be proved to work with the new OS before it's worth even thinking about the move.
Add to that the problems of hardware compatibility, and the 'cost of ownership' of a computer becomes a real issue.
The hardware is cheap, but the time spent keeping it safe and reliable on an ongoing basis is becoming massive, especially if you're unfortunate and still stuck on dial up!
Just dealing with all the software updates that are required can take the better part of a day to download on dial up, and that's not cheap any more!

Couldn't resist - 'acquired' vista enterprise couple of days ago and installed it on a seperate partition and so far I'm a bit surprised, It's not that bad. Quick enough on a 2.8ghz P4, starts up pretty fast, web browsing seems to be quicker than normal. Takes ages to install tho but it's like an unattended install, jsut works away - no stupid settings or questions that could easily be done later.
Had a bit of trouble with a couple of hardware drivers/devices at first. Sound driver caused a crash and wireless card wouldn't work for ages but once I connected it to the net widows update sorted me out with a few new drivers.
Asthetically it's a bit annoying, they haven't really pulled it off like Apple did with Mac OS X. A bit awkward and dark in places but maybe just takes a bit of tweaking and getting used to. Think I'll just change it to the old boring windows 2000 grey. Don't think I'll upgrade my XP yet.
