Eircom and Smart Telecom Folks, I've just had to change from Smart Telecom to Irish Broadband and wondered had any of you encountered this issue with our ISPs that is renting line space from eircom.
On 5 February my broadband and telephone line went dead. For three weeks Smart Telecom have been trying to get eircom to reconnect me (according to Smart, that is) but to no avail.
Smart said that eircom told them that there hadn't been a telephone line here since July 2005. Every house in Ireland has a telephone code assigned to it, and ours didn't exist anymore.
As a result of this, at Smart's advise, I've cut my contract with them and have just been connected to Irish Broadband.
Has anyone out there ever heard of such a story?
It beggars belief, but perhaps it's true - or perhaps Smart weren't paying their line rental to eircom??
